Summer Face-off Malta Poker Events

The Dragonara Poker Room, Malta, have just publicised an upcoming Live Poker Event aimed at both the local and European poker community.

The live poker event, labelled ‘Summer Face-off’ is taking place between the 28th and the 30th May 2010 in Malta’s nightlife capital, St. Julians, and is expected to attract around 100 participants for three days of scheduled poker tournaments.
Sources at the Dragonara Poker Room disclosed that “The main event has been carefully structured to give players a very playable tournament with a meaty starting stack and relaxed blind intervals.”
Malta is quickly becoming a prime gambling destination amongst the worldwide poker community. In 2009 alone, the amount of poker tournaments hosted around the Maltese islands was higher than ever before, with prize-pools reaching over €1,000,000. Compared to data from 2008, the statistics have sky-rocketed and early estimates for 2010 show that this upward trend is being sustained.
Local sources added that ‘By offering poker tournaments at this level, the Dragonara are stepping up their position as a leading provider for quality poker events on the Maltese Islands.’
Dragonara Casino
Built in 1870 as a summer residence for the Marquis Scicluna, the Dragonara palace opened it doors as the Dragonara Palace Casino in 1964. Since then, the government-owned property has been leased to the Dragonara Casino Ltd, led by Lucien Barriere Group. Thanks to its prime location, and efficient operations, the Dragonara Casino has established itself as the leading casino on the Maltese Islands.

Malta is a small archipelago of islands situated in the Mediterranean Sea and features a population of approximately 415,000. The warm, limestone-rich islands, are also a well known hub in the online gaming world with many international gaming operators licensed and operating under the supervision of local gaming regulators, the Lotteries and Gaming Authority [LGA]. Malta also boasts 4 land based casinos, strategically located at the major tourist destinations around the islands, with the Dragonara Casino being the largest & longest established of the four.
