Malta Madness got off to an exciting start last night with players for the opening Team Tournament arriving at Casino di Venezia on a traditional Maltese Luzzu and greeted at reception with champagne cocktails by the Poker Idol Angels.
The Team Tournament is an innovative tournament concept that involves teams of 3 players, all sitting on different tables who aim to get the highest number of chips for the team. Eventually one person from the teams with the largest chip count is chosen to battle it out on the final table.
Yesterday’s tournament involved 18 teams made up of 54 players with a pot of €16,200. After a 12 hour tournament, the team ‘We Bet You Fold’ (Arvin Golrang – Bob Ekelund – Hannes Persson) won the title and a first prize of €8,100. Following in second place were team ‘Muhaha’ winning €4,860 and ‘Team 8850’ in third place with €3,240.
Casino di Venezia’s own Venice Poker Club team came in 4th place and during this tournament welcomed newest member of the team, Alessandro Longobardi. Longobardi has an impressive track record on the Italian and International poker scene and is a very welcome addition to the VPC team.
Poker enthusiasts are still in time to participate in the tournament via a super satellite is taking place tonight at 19:00 with a buy-in of 150+20 at Casino di Venezia. Day 1of the tournament starts on Friday at 16:00 with a buy-in of 1000+100.
