Malta Poker Open 2010 – Stage 1 satellite.
Tuesday the 7th September saw 40 players register at the 1st September ‘Stage 1 satellite’ for the Malta Poker Open 2010 – Powered by XLBet.com. The live poker tournament was hosted at the Portomaso Casino and kicked off at 8pm.
Poker players competed for the €110 + €10 super satellite tickets for the Malta Poker Open 2010 – Powered by XLBet.com. Each player was given 5,000 chips as a starting stack and made their way through the numerous 15 minute blind levels of the re-buy / add-on tournament.
Players were limited to 2 re-buys and one add-on before the break, giving them the opportunity of being more adventurous with the hands played for a chance to make a quick double up at the earlier stages of the tourney.
Throughout the tournament, Moira Cassar emerged as a clear favourite, and held a strong chip-lead all the way. At one point – late in the game – Mrs. Cassar was in possession of 1/3 of the entire chip stack making her almost unreachable to all of her opponenets.
After a gruelling 4 hours of play, the tournament came to a close when ten players were left in the game as Doreen Micallef didn’t manage to qualify in the tournament and placed as the first player out of the money for a ticket prize-pool which reached €1,200.
The following players were the final ten players who manage to qualify and win their seats in the ‘Super Satellite’ tournament taking place on the 3rd October 2010.
The next edition of the Malta Poker Open ‘Stage 1’ satellites is taking place at the Portomaso Casino on Tuesday the 14th September at the Portomaso Casino, St. Julians. The tournament will commence at 8pm sharp.
